Rain Footer..

One fine evening in August with the Rain-Gods pouring down on Kharagpur, some of my friends decided to play a game of rain-footer. With the mud and the water, the fun and the fight, they played and I clicked this pic catching the action. Seen from Left to right are: Soumo, Maqsood Ali, Anubhav Bhagat, Abhinav Somani (kicking the ball), Anand Varatharaj, Shantanu Agarwal (tunnu), Apratim Kumar Mitra (Apro) and Kushal Soy. (August, 2005)

Thoughts..

One lazy afternoon, sanjay munka, my wingie and the subject in this pic was smoking, lost in his thoughts infront of rachit's room. I got hold of my camera and took the above pic. I simply love the expression and the body language !! (Jan. 16, 2006 - CFW, RP, IIT Kharagpur)

Oh! Calcutta...

I am in love with bridges. The above pic was taken from the Rabindra Setu (the Howrah Bridge) when chintan and me were stuck in a traffic jam there. It was thursday, Jan 18th, 2006. (Chintan had his GRE and scored 1500 - the highest amongs us 3, I scored 1410, amit scored 1320). I added some effects (reduced the light using picasa) and cropped the pic to get this.

Mirrors

One of the most 'intelligent' pics that I have taken. I observed while walking from Harry's to RP that the street lights form beautiful shadows. I stood on the road divider and took this pic. The two shadows are formed by the two lights on my two sides atop a pole behind me. The pic came off very well and has a very high degree of symmetry making it look like a digitally created pic using mirrors.

Legs

I suddenly had this idea about taking a pic like this and it turned out superb. That's some of us CFW wingmates forming a hoard. I have done some html image mapping with this pic which can be found here: http://ccc.domaindlx.com/sidseth/cfw.html

Emotions

This one takes the cake when it comes to the funniest pic that I have clicked. Kesh is seen with my Microsoft Stress Reliever Ball (Microsoft and other biggies in US have this policy: Increase the workload so that the workforce is stressed and then hand them soft sponge balls with Microsoft written on them, for the workforce to squeeze tham and relieve their stress).
What makes this pic just perfect is the emotion on Kesh's face as the moment is captured.

The Blue Sky

This pic was taken by my mama, Akshat Verma, on one of his many photography stints. The place is probably Delhi.

The place that made me..

One chilly winter night. A one-second exposure. A bright and 'shining' IIT Kharagpur.

Place: Main Building, IIT Kharagpur

Old is Gold

This sterling picture of the old building of IIT Kharagpur was taken during SF 2005 by one of us.

Wanderer

This one was taken by Dipika without telling me. She took it in Black and White and enhanced the feel. I loved what the pic depicts: Wandering

Bloom in the Sky

Beautiful, right? This one was taken by Ashish Chordia on our Las Vegas trip in a hotel.

Immense

The best thing to do when you visit the Niagara Falls at night for the first time: Don't look at it at first. Climb on to the watch tower. Stand facing it. Take a deep breath. Open Your eyes.

I was there.

Strength

This pic symbolizes the strength of cables that have been designed by engineers to hold a bridge as heavy as this one.

Across the river..

We went to this restricted area by walking through swampy grounds and reached the foot of the pillar on the Calcutta side of the new bridge across Hoogly. We saw the sunset to the left over the port of Diamond Harbour. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets that I ever saw. Seen in the pic are Rhea, Dipika and Aruni dangling their legs on the banks of Hoogly. Ritesh and Me behind the camera.

Place: New Bridge, Calcutta

The bridge across eternity..

Howrah Bridge.. The first time I saw the bridge, I got goosebumps. Its looks you in you eyes. Everytime I lay my sight on this engineering marvel and the people using it, I am reminded of the human spirit. This pic was taken from a ferry which was taking us (me and my wingmates) from Howrah to Babughat.

Rain

Thats the view from my room in my wing. This pic was taken one moist evening when it had been raining a lot for the last 3 days. As far as I can remember, it was romantic...

Technology

This pic was taken in my last week at MSR. I was actually working on all 5 laptops, transferring data from one onto the other. Needed some cleaning up to be done and connected them all over a wireless LAN. From left to right, the laptops are: my official laptop, my personal laptop, KK's official laptop, chintan's official laptop and finally, KK's personal laptop.
What this pic signifies for me is 'technology'. One can also spot my red coloured iRiver music player (which I unfortunately broke and at the time of writing this, is still unrepaired).

Place: Trails of Redmond Apartment, Redmond during our MSR internship in the summer of 2005
Time: 19th July, 2005 (The same day that I had a wonderful MSR Faculty Summit presentation of my internship project and later went and met Bill Gates at his home along with the other Microsoft Research Interns. Feng drove me over there).
